I am pleased to announce that we have launched our Active Directory (AD)-based group policy integration, giving ScoutDNS admins more options for policy deployment. What makes this integration special is how much easier it is to deploy and manage compared to our competitors.
Most DNS filtering tools require some form of persistent connection and synchronization with on-premises domain controllers in order to sync groups and users for policy settings. While these methods may work, they add significant complexity. This is especially problematic for MSPs, who may need to build and maintain dozens, if not hundreds, of Active Directory sync processes. Having to create and maintain virtual machines with sync tools not only makes AD policies less practical, but it also introduces risks associated with persistent domain controller access.
At ScoutDNS, we created a client/endpoint sync process using the already deployed ScoutDNS roaming clients. Our agents identify users, domains, and associated user groups, allowing ScoutDNS admins to bind the domains and associated groups to policies within new configuration objects called Personas. For ScoutDNS admins already running the Scout360 client, the entire AD setup process can be completed in minutes.
For existing ScoutDNS customers, making traditionally complex processes easy is just what they have come to expect. For anyone else looking for a new protective DNS solution, I encourage you to try our 14-day trial and experience it for yourself.
